Diner Dash: Flo on the Go – PC – Review

Flo is taking a well-needed
vacation with her co-worker, Darla, on a cruise ship. Unfortunately, she has
lost her suitcase and doesn’t have any clothes for the trip! Luck steps in,
though, in the form of a job offer in one of the cruise ship restaurants. Not
only will she get paid, but her trip will be free! Yippee! She immediately
slaps on an apron, grabs Dana, and springs into action.

Diner Dash is a popular online
arcade game that has been released in several versions for various platforms,
as well as the downloadable online version. Flo on the Go is the latest to hit
the PC market. It features the same gameplay as
before, with new customers and restaurant decorations, plus cool threads for
Flo.

The premise is simple: seat
customers, take orders, serve orders, present checks, and clean tables. To mix
things up a bit, Flo will also need to hand out high chairs and mop floors.
Flo gets extra points for seating customers in chairs that have the customers’
matching colors, and extra points for doubling tasks, as in when she hands in
two orders at once. It’s easy to gauge the customers’ happiness ratings, as
there are large hearts displayed beside them.

The game begins on a cruise ship,
and then moves location to a train, where Flo once again loses her luggage.
But here again she is able to work in the diner car and earn some money for
new clothes. The action is the same, but new customer characters are added,
the lovebirds. If they become impatient, they start smooching and gross out
the other customers, thereby causing them to lose hearts. After a certain
number of levels are reached, Flo’s location will change once again.

Players are able to upgrade
certain items in the restaurants, and also change Flo’s outfits each time she
earns new clothes. This was rather fun, but the clothes were mostly the same
style, and it would have been more fun if they had been more different.

The game is drawn in a 2D cartoon
animated style with bright, vivid colors. Everything looks very bright and
cheery. The music is also upbeat and cheerful.

Diner Dash has been around a few
years, and has already seen several versions. This version presents the same
basic gameplay, which is to accomplish certain
tasks in the amount of time allotted. There are several varieties currently
online that all feature this same type of casual gaming, Cake Mania, Wedding
Dash, Burger Island, etc. Diner Dash is a fun and entertaining casual game
that is atypical of the genre. If you like these types of games, you will
enjoy Diner Dash Flo on the Go. I had fun with it, but have to admit I like
Cake Mania better, because it has a bit more variety of tasks in the
gameplay.

A good family game that will
entertain everyone!
