Sonic the Hedgehog is to Sega what Mario is to Nintendo. The
best-selling franchise in Sega’s lineup may be little more than a quick rodent,
but this rodent sells games. In Sonic Heroes, the platform master is back with
his two furry friends to conquer the PS2, GameCube, and its debut on the Xbox.
The key to this version of Sonic’s continuing adventures is the
team-based play. Players control a team of characters, instead of just one
animal. Combining Sonic’s speed, Knuckles’ power, and Tails’ flying ability,
players will decide how to combine their powers to get past obstacles, enemies,
and puzzles. Sonic Heroes stays true to the formula that made the Sonic titles
so successful, great platform gaming, colorful environments, and fast-paced
action.
The multi-player mode, though not finished, will add depth to the
game through friendly competition. Players will be able to choose between four
teams; Team Rose, Team Chaotix, Team Dark, and of course Team Sonic. These four
teams contain a total of twelve playable characters to enjoy.
Sonic Heroes is scheduled for release in early 2004.
