Sea Life Safari – 360 – Preview

The old professor is an avid
collector of images of marine life. To that end he has sent you out to take
pictures of sea life in a photo-taking adventure geared for release on the Xbox
Live Arcade platform for the 360.

Sea Life Safari is a rail game
for kids in which you take pictures and those pictures are judged and scored. If
good enough, they may wind up in the professor’s collection. Of course,
sometimes you have to get the fish to react, so you have a gizmo you can float
in their direction to get some animation from the creature.

With five environments and a
sedate journey through them, children will have the opportunity to photograph
any one of the more than 60 creatures in the game. Certain fish only come out at
special times of the day (or night), and there are special items to find as
well.

Sierra showed off the title
during a media event held in mid-April in San Francisco. The game is slated for
release on the XBLA in the summer.

The dev team members on hand
termed Sea Life Safari a ‘slow, relaxing kids game’ that was more about enjoying
the peaceful adventure than hurrying through to the end. Of course, with
different judging criteria for the pictures taken, players may find that they
return to the game time and again to get that perfect image.
