Magnetica – NDS – Preview

E3 2006 Hands On Preview

Remember
that old game where you amassed balls of the same color to make them disappear
and you were on a timer and had to clear them all before time expired. The game
was called Bust-a-Move (or Puzzle Bobble), and it has seen many iterations
during the past years.

Well, it’s
back in yet another version and this time it goes by the name Magnetica.

The
description is as follows: “In Magnetica, marbles roll down a twisted path
toward the goal and it’s up to players to stop them by launching new marbles
into the oncoming ones. The marbles will disappear if players match three or
more in this massive marble elimination. All actions are controlled with the
stylus in this title that satisfies even the strongest puzzle addiction.”

The game
features several game modes including challenge, quest, puzzle and versus. It
makes extensive use of the touch screen, in which you drag balls in the
direction you want to send them. The game is simple to learn to play but has
built-in challenges that will make it tough to master.

Entertaining
and addictive are two words to describe the game. It is also fast paced.

It is
graphically pleasing as well – bright and with solid animation.

This is a
well-done game that works perfectly on this handheld platform.
