E3 2006 First Look Preview
One of the titles that was released by The
Adventure Company a little while back was called Missing, which had players
going to different websites and such to find clues and solve a kidnapping. Well,
one of the games slated for release later on this year is called Evidence, which
is a follow-up to that underrated PC title. In Evidence, you will sit in front
of your computer getting messages and clues from a psychopath known only as The
Phoenix, and he will leave just enough to make you have to use your wits (and
your online connection) to try and track him down.
For example, one of the puzzles in the game
showed a map of the Eastern Coast of the United States. Well, he’s trying to
tell you something, so you have to figure out what it is. Upon zooming in, you
see a red dot on a certain area, and the game asks you to enter the street name
in. At this point you minimize the game, head over to Google Maps, do a
satellite zoom of the Eastern U.S., and find out what street he was pointing out
in particular. It’s very creative, and you can also expect to get e-mails
directly to your e-mail address from the kidnapper himself.
The finished game will contain lots of web sites
to visit, some good in game puzzles to figure out, and there will be a lot of
focus on having players actually “group up” on forum boards and such to put
different pieces of info together to try and track The Phoenix down. If you’re
looking for a good crime style game which is creepy, a tad twisted, and
extremely creative … check out store shelves later on this year.
