Valve Gives Reason behind Orange Box Deactivations

Some US customers are having their copies of the Orange Box deactivated due to territorial copyright issues.

The issue is arising from US gamers who bought their copies of Valve’s “The Orange Box” from an online retailer in Thailand. In this case, a Thai retailer rather irresponsible sold Thai CD keys to outside territories, forcing Valve to slam the door on consumers.

“Valve uses Steam for territory control to make sure products authorized for use in certain territories are not being distributed and used outside of those territories,” Valve explained.

Consumers who are having issues with domestically purchased copies are being told to contact Valve directly to resolve any software key issues.
