Top 10 most anticipated games from E3 2012

1) Assassin’s Creed III

AC3 headline

Move back Call of Duty and Halo; a new sheriff is in town and ready to take over. Several months ago everyone was pondering where the Assassin’s Creed story would go next. Then, without notice, word got out that it was hitting close to home in the American Revolution. Some cheered, many gasped, but after Ubisoft revealed to all the first glimpse of the game, everyone came to a conclusion that this game is going to be a masterpiece. Everything about the upcoming title seems like a fresh take on a series that was, like Call of Duty, beginning to show its age. Are we giving a game that’s months away from launch too much credit? Maybe, but that’s just how impactful early showings of the game have been. E3 will definitely be an enormous blowout for Ubisoft and Assassin’s Creed III, and we’re excited to be apart of it all!

So, there you have it, GameZone’s top 10 most anticipated games from E3 2012. It’s time to voice your opinions, though. If you had to create a list of your top 10 most anticipated games from the upcoming expo, what would it look like? Let us know by commenting below.

3) Call of Duty: Black Ops II

Black Ops 2 headline

By now many of you are most likely shouting at your computer screen, “OMG, HOW CAN YOU HAVE BLACK OPS II AT NUMBER THREE? IT WILL BE THE BEST GAME EV3R!!!!!!” Okay, first off, take a chill pill. We are actually very excited for Black Ops II, because just when the series seemed to be growing tiresome, Treyarch and Activision throw us for a loop with a futuristic setting. With new gadgets, weapons, and vehicles, Call of Duty could be pushing for the innovation that the entire first-person shooter genre needs. Needless to say, we expect a clip-load of details to be dropped at E3, including a first glimpse at multiplayer, which is what everyone wants to see, right?

2) Halo 4

Halo 4 headline

Oh, don’t start with us again. You’ll see why 343 Industries’ upcoming shooter comes in a close second in a short while, but for now, lets focus on Master Chief’s return. There’s no doubt that Microsoft is going to milk the crap out of Halo at E3, and that’s precisely why we’re so eager for the game. A new trilogy that centers around everyone’s beloved hero sets the tone for Halo 4, but 343’s mark on its multiplayer is where all eyes lie. Can 343 return Halo to its rightful throne? Time will surely tell.

5) BioShock: Infinite

BioShock: Infinite headline

Sure, BioShock: Infinite has lost some of its steam after being slammed with a delay, presumably to give it a comfortable release window, but that hasn’t stopped it from coming in at number five on our list. In reality, the delay sets up for a flock of Infinite details at this year’s E3. If what we’ve seen so far amounts to anything, we can’t wait to get a better picture of just what we’re going to experience early next year, and we bet you can’t either. Ken Levine and the BioShock: Infinite team seems to be hitting on all cylinders, which will hopefully create a game that’s truly memorable.

4) Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 6 headline

Zombies, zombies, and more zombies: can’t live with them, can’t play a videogame without them – at least that’s what the Resident Evil series wants you to believe. Indeed, Capcom’s beloved series has presented countless scares, “oh crap” moments, and a seemingly underlying romance that will most likely never happen (but that doesn’t matter, right?). Resident Evil 6 is on its way and we’re excited to see were the popular name is going next. We do have one request for Capcom though: can we please run and shoot? Because, you know, that’s pretty useful when you’re being overrun by zombie hordes.

7) Rainbow 6: Patriots

Rainbow 6: Patriots headline

Since its reveal late last year, we’ve heard little to nothing pertaining to Tom Clancy’s upcoming shooter. In all fairness, the Clancy franchise has been up to impressive feats through another one of their series’, Ghost Recon. Nevertheless, Rainbow 6: Patriots’ quietness has us anticipating a major blowout of details at this year’s E3. Please, Ubisoft, we want to hear about our upcoming battles against the terrorists of the world!

6) Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2 headline

Unlike our number seven title, we’ve been presented with a great number of details pertaining to Gearbox’s upcoming RPG-shooter, Borderlands 2. New enemies, a revamped inventory system, and a collector’s edition that will make your heart melt are just a few of what we know thus far, but that’s enough for any Borderlands fan to start salivating at the mouth. E3 is sure to bring about even more details on one of Gearbox’s biggest endeavors yet, which brings us to shout one thing: send us to Pandora!

9) Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider headline

Oh Lara, where have you been? It’s been quite some time since we were submerged in a Tomb Raider title, especially when you consider the buzz that was just a year ago on Croft’s return. While it’s an assumption that we’ll see a new title revealed at this year’s E3, we feel it’s a great one at that – Lara Croft can only remain quiet for so long. As the old saying goes – “in time we’ll know” – okay, maybe that’s just our saying, but work with us here!

8) Medal of Honor Warfighter

MoH Warfighter headline

After a dismal showing two years ago with Medal of Honor, EA and Danger Close are back at it again, determined to show the world that MoH means business. In a genre clustered with upcoming titles, it’s hard to believe that we’re excited for something new, but Warfighter seems, well, different. Backed by DICE’s Frostbite 2.0 engine, Warfighter looks, and we mean looks, better than ever. If EA and Danger Close are able to focus on their end of the deal, instead of focusing on their opponents, Medal of Honor Warfighter has the chance to take over a genre begging for innovation.

In less than two weeks, GameZone, along with thousands of other media outlets and publishers, will be making their presence at this year’s E3. Once again, the Los Angeles Convention center will be home to countless, big-name videogames – ones we’re ecstatic to see, and ones you’re most likely gnawing at the teeth to hear about. Most already have their preconceived opinions on what games will “dominate” E3. Better yet, we’ve compiled a list of our top 10 most anticipated games from E3.

Without further commentating, we present to you our sacred list:

10) Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Dawnguard DLC)

Skyrim Dawnguard headline

It’s not too often that DLC is able to crack top 10 lists that are strewn with upcoming blockbuster titles, but Skyrim’s Dawnguard DLC has done just that. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s been seven months since the epic RPG launched, or maybe its Bethesda calling it once of their most ambitious add-ons ever, but either way, Dawnguard has us intrigued. Can Bethesda rekindle the love between fans and Skyrim? We’ll be able to answer that in less than two weeks.
