Last week, we told you (twice, as it happens — whoops) that THQ’s Deadly Creatures was being delayed until February. And you cried, you kicked, you screamed, you whined… unless of course tarantulas and scorpions aren’t your thing. In which case, you were probably quite relieved.
But, what if we told you the reason for the delay was so that they could cast the voices of Dennis Hopper and Billy Bob Thornton, making this about as anti-Disney/Pixar as you can get for a story with animals?
Well, the truth is, we can’t tell you that’s why it was delayed (odds are, the voicework was done a long time ago, and they just want to avoid being crushed by the Christmas glut). But, that hasn’t stopped THQ from releasing the press announcement which reveals the fact:
“What surprised me about Deadly Creatures is how it looks…like watching a movie,” said Billy Bob Thornton. “The scorpion and tarantula are like two actors meeting up for a gun fight.”
“Gamers are really going to love Deadly Creatures,” added Dennis Hopper.
“Billy Bob Thornton and Dennis Hopper’s involvement as the voice talent for the human characters in Deadly Creatures is a testament to the game’s high level of quality,” said Nick Wlodyka, General Manager, Rainbow Studios. “The AAA talent helps bring this cinematic storyline of greed and betrayal to life in a one-of–a-kind action-thriller exclusively on Wii.” — Press Release, via Kotaku
It’s funny, I would have thought that Dennis Hopper would never set foot near a project that had anything to do with a video game again. Maybe his kid needed some new shoes?
Edit: And apparently, this isn’t really news. So what the hell’s with the new press release?
Oh well, no sense wasting a write-up…
