Well, GoldenEye fans, it seems that you probably won’t be getting an Xbox Live Arcade version of your favorite N64 shooter anytime soon, after all.
According to 1UP, the rumored XBLA version of GoldenEye N64 was canned because Nintendo and Microsoft could not come to a financial agreement that suited both companies. This news comes from 1UP, who reports that the Big N and the Big M could not decide whether or not Nintendo would be paid one lump sum for the rights to the game or Nintendo would be paid based off the lifelong success of an XBLA version of the game.
According to 1UP, GoldenEye XBLA was just two months from completion before it was canceled.
Still want GoldenEye for XBLA? We’re pretty sure you do, and 1UP has a suggestion. “From what we’re told, the best way to get this port back on track is to show Microsoft and Nintendo how badly you want it. If it all comes down to money, show ’em that you want to give yours.”
