A couple of days ago, Sony issued a survey which asked God of War fans what they would like to see in a Collector’s Edition of God of War III. Among the choices is “God of War and God of War II on Blu-ray disc,” which has led to some people believing Sony is ready to reintroduce PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility to its most recent console contender.
However, Sony cut the party short when they told Kotaku “It is simply a marketing survey. The goal of it is to do focus group testing. We’re just trying to find out what would resonate with the God of War community.”
“If that was the number one requested thing, that would be something they would need to see if that was most technically feasible,” Sony’s reps added. “Obviously with Blu-ray, we’re able to put more content on the disc. But in terms of having seen God of War II on a Blu-ray disc on a debug and playing it that way, no, that’s not something I’ve seen.”
In short, even if they’re considering it for these two games alone, that’s still well over the horizon.
