PSN Demo of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2: Not for Loners

If you haven’t yet downloaded the PSN-exclusive Marvel vs. Capcom 2 demo, then let me just say: I hope you have friends. As in, the kind within easy traveling distance to your place.

PlayStation LifeStyle reports that after the buildup and anticipation for playing the eagerly-awaited demo for the title, they were disappointed to learn that the only mode available in the 198MB download is local multiplayer; no online, and no single-player mode.

What’s more, it sounds as though you need to have a second active controller in order to even play the game at all, or “you will come away extremely disappointed.”

I’m rather amazed by this; it was bad enough with Bionic Commando on the Xbox 360, but here, too? Granted, the MVC2 single-player experience is incredibly weak (only one ending for 50 characters? Weak.), but as PSLS puts it, this is a major tease, unless you’re fortunate enough to have a friend/roommate/etc. with a second controller handy.
