Producer Ed Boon Tweets About Next Mortal Kombat

I’m pretty sure it’s been said before, and if so, Mortal Kombat co-creator and series Producer Ed Boon has then reiterated on his Twitter what we can expect from the next series installment, and no, superheroes won’t have anything to do with it.

Replying to another user, he tweets “People want an M-rated MK….dammit we will give them an M-rated MK.” He also expresses in another that they are “doin some kool fatalities. I hope we aren’t taking these too far. :(”

Another tweet says “I think players are definitely going to get the “warm & fuzzies” when they see, hear, play & “discover” the next MK, and after “wondering if peeps wanna see babalities return” informs Jeff Gerstmann of Giant Bomb that “Fatalities on babies = AO rating :(” also notes “Recent casting calls for the game have indicated that the game may be a prequel, taking place in between Mortal Kombat II and 3, which has further fueled speculation that Mortal Kombat 9 may actually be a sequel to the 2006 title, Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. Shaolin Monks is the best received Mortal Kombat game by critics out of the recent titles, so a follow up would be very welcome!”

So, there’s some idea of what you can (and can’t) expect from the next Mortal Kombat. That is, assuming that the whole of Midway doesn’t crumble away beneath them.
