Pokemon Sells Over 1.5 Million

According to the latest statistics put up at NTT Publishing’s EG game site, the latest two titles in the critically acclaimed Pokemon franchise have sold over 1 million copies during their debut week in Japan.

From September 28 to October 1, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl sold nearly 1.6 million copies, beating out Pokemon Gold/Silver’s record of 1.41 million copies back in 1999. While the best single title debut for the DS remains New Super Mario Bros., which sold an impressive 865,024 copies during its first week, Diamond has sold 813,237 units, while pearl has sold 762,029.
