The Ocean City Trinity, who previously held a Mega Man marathon, is at it again. This time, they’re ringing in the New Year with Fox McCloud and Team Star Fox, and what’s more, they aren’t the only ones doing it.
On New Year’s Day, they will be playing six Star Fox games in order to raise money for the World Food Programme, who is trying to end world hunger. In particular, they seek to aid developing countries and places hit with natural disasters.
There will be two teams competing, Team Fox and Team Wolf, who will be out to obtain the best score through a series of Xbox 360-like achievements for each game.
The games are the five Star Fox titles– Star Fox (SNES), Star Fox 64 (N64), Star Fox Adventures (GC), Star Fox Assault (GC), and Star Fox Command (DS). Plus, the three Super Smash Bros. games will be included as a collective sixth game in which they will use Star Fox characters in special challenges.
Unfortunately, there seems to have been disagreement on the legality of using Star Fox 2, so it was excluded from the roster of games. A shame, really.
You can learn more about the marathon, which begins at 11am on New Year’s Day and runs for 36 hours, by checking out their website. There, you can find who is on which team, an FAQ, and what the Achievements are for each game. Plus, you can tune in there when the marathon goes live and make your donations using the ChipIn widget on their sidebar.
