Microsoft has finally laid the rumors to rest, and unfortunately, gamers hoping for the next evolution of co-op play are in for a disappointment. Halo 2 will feature a co-op mode, but it shall only be available offline, via splitscreen.
Microsoft did confirm the introduction of a new online play method, where a player can log into Xbox Live, and have 3 other people play ont he same Xbox – via splitscreen – as guests. Some may find this helpful for cooperative modes such as capture the flag, as a quick glance at a teammate’s portion of the screen tells volumes as to their position in relation to the player.
