Nintendo to Announce Several Games for the “Core Gamer” this E3

It’s really all I bitch about every single day of the week. I just sit at home, alone, talking to myself about how the Wii’s selection for dedicated, hardcore gamers is pretty much lame. Don’t get me wrong, the games that are out there and meant to appeal to those like me are great. Zelda, Smash Bros., Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart… all fantastic games. But when you veer off of the path, you start to stumble into a thicket of mediocrity and titles that feel uncommitted to gaming glory. Well, I know I speak for all of us “core gamers” when I say, “That just sucks.”

Well, according to Marc Franklin, Director of Public Relations at Nintendo, Nintendo’s dedicated fans are going to be psyched this E3. Straight from the horse’s mouth:

We recently announced the upcoming release of Mario Super Sluggers…Additionally, we will be announcing several new titles that core gamers will be interested in around the time of E3.

Well, there you have it. My bet goes to Kid Icarus, it’s got to happen. I want to be one of the ones who said, “I told you so.” Although that list is pretty long.

Another curious thing…why “core” gamers? Is Nintendo trying to step away from isolating their “hardcore” fans by dropping the prefix? Thoughts?
