Media: More Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Than You Can Shake a Fire Flower At

Wow, if I had any idea how much material I would come across between yesterday’s post and today, I would have held off on posting it.

So, what do we have? Our DS gallery has 40 new screens, while our Wii gallery has 75. That’s right: over 100 new screens collectively of Mario, Sonic, and all their friends playing in the snow and ice. There might even be enough snow in all of these images to keep an Xbox 360 from warming up.

But that’s not all; there’s video, too. First up, courtesy of the Sonic City Blognik, is the new GamesCom 2009 trailer, which reveals two new characters:

…and maybe it’s me, but it kind of cuts off abruptly. Anyway, turns out the new characters are… Silver and Bowser Jr., just as rumored/reported yesterday. But I guess now, it’s official.

Here’s another video, this time interviewing SEGA of Europe’s Head of Marketing, David Corless, about the game:

Well, it looks like this one has the proper end, at any rate.

One thing of interest which he mentions is the DS verson’s “Adventure Mode,” which has a few pics in its respective archive, and looks like it may be the first “canon” meeting between the two groups, at least where actual story is concerned. Personally, I think it sounds like fun, and I can’t wait to see how the characters play off one-another.

Shame it doesn’t seem to be in the Wii version, though.

I’m glad the Dream Events are returning, but even better is that they are open from the start.

As reader Denni pointed out in the comments yesterday, however, one has to wonder just when we’re going to finally get to see some gameplay footage. We didn’t get any when it was announced, we didn’t get any from E3, not even from a cell phone camera on the showfloor.

My theory? SEGA has hired goons to prevent it.
