It’s kind of funny; once upon a time, if a game didn’t have multiplayer, it was not a huge detriment. And there were quite a few games which went forward with that. But now, if a game doesn’t have multiplayer, there are people who will howl at the moon over its absence, leading to more and more developers looking into incorporating it in some way.
Hence, Naughty Dog’s inclusion of multiplayer in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, whereas there was no such feature in the original game. G4 gets inside to take a look at what we can expect from Drake and friends:
What gets me here, is– and maybe I’ve missed something– I thought Uncharted was basically a sort of treasure-hunting video game, which is cool. But– again, unless I’ve missed something– this seems more like a straight-up death match kind of thing.
I can’t help but think that a group of explorers racing to find the treasure of a lost civilization, or something of the sort, while trying to thwart your rivals at every turn, would be a neat twist. Who brings home the gold, and who winds up with their head on a pike?
