I don’t know what the strategy behind the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is, but it sure doesn’t make sense to me. Capcom has announced that the date for the epic brawler’s release on PlayStation Network won’t be until August 13th, and will sell for $15. This date is a little bit later than the Xbox Live Arcade version release, which is set for July 29th, 2009.
No word from Capcom why the date is different for the PSN version, but this should be anything but surprising since the release date has been very elusive from the start.
Some have speculated that the date was pushed back because of the rumored Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Box Collector’s Edition for PlayStation 3, which oddly enough was set to release on August 13th. The collector’s item was for PlayStation 3 owners who wanted the game and everything but the kitchen sink including things like 2,000 Capcom Unity points, free digital wallpapers and a manual.
Whatever the case may be, the release dates of this game are starting to become more exciting than the game itself.
