Following 2007’s Super Mario Galaxy, we can now safely say that Mario is no stranger to space. Nonetheless, an artist from Los Angeles known only as “Misha” has managed to take the concept to the next level by crossing Mario characters with some familiar imagery from the Star Wars saga.
So, we have Mario as Luke Skywalker, Luigi as Han Solo, Donkey Kong as Chewbacca, Peach as Leia, Yoshi as a Tauntaun, Wart as Jabba the Hutt, and Bowser reprising his role of “Darth Koopa” from an episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!.
But what really sold me on this was Wario and Waluigi as R2-D2 and C-3P0, respectively.
If you go to G1988, you can check out static images of each work, and even purchase one– or all of them, if you wish– but be warned, they aren’t cheap! “Return” and “Empire” command $1,400 each, while “Slave Girl Peach” only requires the humbler amount of $750.
