Only a few days ago, we didn’t know when some of Nintendo’s biggest games would hit store shelves: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass. A lot can change in just a few days.
Yesterday, Nintendo let the world know it can expect Samus’s galactic adventure, Prime 3, on August 20. But today, the Big N has confirmed that it will also be releasing Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass this year.
“Let me take a final minute to talk a little bit more about the core,†said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime in Seattle during the company’s media summit. “By some people’s definition, the last time Nintendo published a true core game was GoldenEye. But in our minds Mario, Zelda and Smash are also core games and that’s because you can’t find a core gamer who can say that they’ve never played those games. And later on this year you’ll be playing Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.â€
Unfortunately, just as soon as Fils-Aime revealed these big hitters would be releasing in North America in 2007, he changed the subject, so we don’t know when in 2007 they will ship.
Considering, Nintendo just announced its summer 2007 lineup, we imagine these other titles will ship sometime after August, during the fall and holiday season.
We’ll keep you up to date.
