Shifting our attention to the NFC East, ESPN has revealed the rosters for two more teams: the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.
New York Giants: 83 overall
The Giants are a solid team overall. Particularly strong on defense, expect a ton of pressure from their speedy defensive ends, Jason Tuck (84 speed, 93 finesse move) and Osi Umenyiora (84 speed, 97 finesse move). Their only weak spot on the team appears to be the linebacker position with the highest overall going to LOLB Michael Boley (80 overall). A very capable Eli Manning (90 throwing power, 86 throwing accuracy) has many weapons to work with on offense including a wide receiver corps led by Hackeem Nicks (90 speed, 93 acceleration, 90 catch). Clearly, the giants are a defensive minded team, but don’t underestimate the potential of their offense. In the right hands, the New York Giants can be a very scary team. Dallas Cowboys: 82 overall
America’s team seemed to take a hit in the overall team rating department, but when you look at the roster there is a lot to be excited about. The offense as a whole looks explosive, particularly the passing game. Tony Romo (73 speed, 91 throwing power, 86 throwing accuracy) leads a very speedy offense featuring Felix Jones (96 speed, 96 acceleration, 88 elusiveness), Miles Austin (94 speed, 91 acceleration, 93 agility, 88 catch), and Dez Bryant (94 speed, 96 acceleration, 97 spectacular catch). Don’t forget the all-pro Demarcus Ware (98 overall, 99 power move, 97 finesse move, and 88 tackling) at linebacker and the always solid Jason Witten (96 overall, 95 catching) at tight end. If there is one position to attack when playing against the Cowboys it’s the secondary, with three starters having overalls in the 70s. Expect the Cowboys to a Madden fan favorite with all of that speed. View the full Dallas Cowboys roster here.
Bottom line: the NFC East is up for grabs. I don’t think any team has the ability to run away with the division, but each team has the potential to be in it at the end of the year. As usual, expect the division champion to come down to how these teams perform in December.
