Earlier this year, Mad Catz coordinated a release of a series of specially-designed joysticks and controllers for the release of Capcom’s Street Fighter IV. And despite a premium price tag, they sold out rather quickly, becoming difficult to find and highly coveted. As a result, people have been asking when they will produce more.
And today, we have our answer: they are, and they aren’t.
The good news is that Mad Catz is releasing more of the controllers and joysticks, but the bad news is that if you had your heart set on a particular character or design they had released previously, then you’ll still need to keep your eyes on eBay.
The new release is what Mad Catz calls their “Round 2” series of controllers; same guts and innards, but with all-new designs on the housing. The characters appearing on the Genesis-styled controllers this time are Guile, Crimson Viper, Cammy, Zangief, Sagat, and M. Bison. The joystick, meanwhile, implements monochrome artwork from the game.
The joystick will carry the hefty $149.99 price tag, while the six controllers will each instead sport a more affordable $39.99 sticker. And the whole lot of them are only given the vague release date of “fall of 2009.”
