LucasArts Opens Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings Website with Many Details

Following a leaked trailer and preceding the arrival of many subscribers’ March issue of Nintendo Power, which features Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings as a cover story, LucasArts has finally spilled the beans on what may be one of their worst-kept secrets by opening its website for the title.

Here’s the full fact sheet:

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings

Step into the shoes of the legendary hero, Indiana Jones, in an all new epic adventure! Set in the year 1939, Indiana Jones® and the Staff of Kings™ follows the rogue archaeologist on an all-new globe-trotting quest.

From San Francisco’s Chinatown to the lush jungles of Panama, Indy must use his whip, fists and wits to fight through ruthless opposition as he spars with his nemesis, Magnus Völler, in a race for a relic of biblical proportions — the Staff of Moses.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings features completely interactive environments, where players need to call upon their wits and daring to make each spring-loaded environment a weapon in order to dispense of foes in clever and unexpected ways. Also, embark upon thrilling action sequences that remain true to the spirit established in scenes such as Indy’s pursuit of the motorcade in Raiders of the Lost Ark, the mine-cart scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and the free-for-all aboard the tank in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Nice touch, adding in one of the oldschool graphic adventures in the package; I wonder if that’s available for all versions, or if the DS version will take advantage of any of the handheld’s special features, i.e. touching things.

But perhaps even more intriguing is the use of the Wii remote as a whip– we may finally get to put to test Castlevania Producer Koji Igarashi’s theory of people tiring out from using it in such a way.

And I wonder who the “familiar character” will be? I wouldn’t bet on Mutt Williams from Kingdom of the Crystal Skull; the movie is set too early for that.

Be sure to check out their website for some new screenshots, too.
