Speaking recently to Japanese gaming publication Nintendo Dream, game director Eiji Aonuma commented on how development is progressing on the Nintendo DS’s first Legend of Zelda title, Phantom Hourglass.
Sequel to the GameCube’s Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, the game is progressing along quite nicely according to Aonuma. A small team of only 10 people is currently working on the game, with the addition of the team that created cut scenes in Twilight Princess now overseeing the cut scenes in Phantom Hourglass. If you were not already aware, the entire game will be controlled via touch by way of the stylus. Aonuma is particularly fond of this new control scheme for the series. “I can’t believe we’re living in a world where this sort of thing is possible!†There are lots of things that I wish I could have done in earlier Zelda games. So after Twilight Princess, I hope you will enjoy the DS game!
A concrete release date has yet to be set, but Aonuma is hoping for sometime in 2007. Stay tuned to AMN for more on this highly anticipated title for the Nintendo DS.
