If the prospect of playing a 3D multiplayer shooter gets you all dizzy with excitement, boy have we got a trailer for you.
If anything can make 3D in the home viable, it’s Killzone 3. This glimpse (via CVG) into the game’s online multiplayer gives us a taste of what we’ll be playing when the game’s beta opens on February 3 – and while there’s nothing particularly surprising here, there are a few things worth noting.
For one, and this is a given, gameplay looks incredibly solid. It’s no Call of Duty – the pacing appears entirely different, and slower movement may allow for players to actually spend some time thinking rather than just camping or running and gunning and hoping for the best.
It also looks absolutely beautiful. It’s a shame the quality of the video isn’t better, but dystopian grays have certainly never been so gorgeous. What it lacks in color it makes up for in atmosphere, and if this is just a multiplayer map, we can’t wait to see what the entire campaign looks like. Hoorah for hard sci-fi.
Will this all translate well to 3D gameplay? We’ll just have to wait and see.
