Halo 2 Sells $100 Million on First Day

According to a Reuters news report, ‘Halo 2’ will reach up to $100 million dollars in sales, as a Microsoft Games executive clearly stated.

“I’m calling a $100 million day on ‘Halo’ today,” Peter Moore, a corporate vice president in Microsoft’s games division, said at the Harris Nesbitt investment conference in New York.

“We think that this will be the biggest launch in the history of EB, perhaps the biggest launch in the history of video games,” said Jeff Griffiths, chief executive of games retailer Electronics Boutique, at the Harris Nesbitt conference.

Reuters said that the first Halo had sold on 5 million units. While Halo 2 came out, a record-breaking estimated ‘8,500 units in the 11 minutes of sales’ were sold, as Moore told Reuters.

“In the first 24 hours we’ll have an opening that’s (more) popular than any motion picture has ever had in history,” Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates said at a shareholder’s meeting on Tuesday.

As of yesterday, AMN (Advanced Media Network) attended the Toys R’ Us store in NYC’s Times Square. Bringing back some photos and Halo 2 copies, we’ve noticed the long line just to get in while standing out in the 40 degree cold. People would have done anything to get their ‘high’ off of Halo 2 for Xbox. Halo 2 is now officially released and is available in stores.

Xbox Advanced will have an exclusive review up as soon as we can. XA would also like to thank those who supported XA Radio for its first time being live ‘on the air’ and we hope that you’ll listen to us once again.
