Since Guitar Hero’s release on the PS2 in November 2005, the franchise has taken the gaming world by storm, exposing more people to the rhythm genre than any game since Dance Dance Revolution. One year later to the day, the sequel achieved even greater success, going on to sell over 1.7 million copies in the U.S. alone. Very soon, Xbox 360 owners will get to see what all the fuss was about.
Today, Activision announced that the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II is finished and ready for production in anticipation of its April 3 release. The game will feature the same guitar-shredding gameplay that made the PS2 version so popular and, in addition to the long list of songs from the PS2 version, will come equipped with 10 tracks completely new to the series. The game will only be available in an $89.99 bundle that will also include a Gibson Xplorer model guitar controller. Xplorer controllers will be sold individually with an MSRP of $59.99.
Guitar Hero II is rated T for Teen, and will be available on April 3. For more information, check out AMN’s previous coverage, and stay tuned for the full review.
