EA announced today that per it’s fan vote tally, that both Muhammad Ali and “Iron” Mike Tyson will be featured on the cover of EA Sports’ upcoming Fight Night Round 4. The voting site was established in December of last year, and has just proved that it was probably completely pointless, and featuring both legends was presumably the plan all along.
This marks the first time that Tyson has been included in a Fight Night game, as well as the first time gamers will be able to pit Tyson versus Ali, a match that boxing fans have debated about for years. EA promises that Round 4 will revolutionize boxing games, promising to be “a true representation of the sport’s incredible speed, accuracy, timing, and power.” What does Mike Tyson think of all of this?
“I’m honored to be on the cover of Fight Night Round 4 with Ali. He was a special champ, and I have the highest respect for him as a person and a fighter,” said Tyson. “People always ask me if I think I would have beaten Ali if I had the chance to fight him when we were both in our prime. Now you can figure it out for yourselves. Fight Night puts you right in that ring and gives you the gloves to settle the score.”
Notice that he didn’t answer the age old debate for fans, opting instead for a shameless plug of the game. Those of you just dying to know the outcome, I suppose you’ll just be forced to purchase the game and find out. And, as a not-so-special bonus, those who preorder their copy at GameStop will be able to download the game’s demo early! This means that if you hate it, there’s still enough time to get your $5.00 back.
