A recent forum post on the official Bungie forums confirms that the Crackdown auto-update issue has been solved: “We’re happy to announce that effective immediately, a title update for Crackdown is available on Xbox Live that will fix the issue that previously prevented you from downloading the beta. The Microsoft team just deployed this fix and when you launch Crackdown you should receive a prompt to download the update.”
While the news is undoubtedly welcoming to the dedicated Halo fanbase, Bungie warns that “it could take up to four hours for your console to receive this update based on various factors.” To make up for the list time, the company has extended the beta period to 11:59 PDT on June 10.
Users who tried to login to the Halo 3 Beta today through the Crackdown invite found that the Beta option was still grayed out.
Bungie has already given their first update about the problem on the Halo3.com’s community page, “Folks are reporting problems downloading the Halo 3 Beta via Crackdown this morning. We have alerted the appropriate Live authorities and they are taking care of the problem as we speak. More news as it comes in.”
When the title Crackdown was released in February, players were guaranteed a spot in the Halo 3 beta when they purchased the game.
“With any luck this will be a short delay. People entering the Beta through other methods – Friends and Family, Rule of Three and so on, are unaffected.”
AMN will keep you updated.
