It appears that the announcement of the PS3 Slim and the overall lower price point for the PlayStation 3 was exactly the kick in the bum people needed to start buying the thing, at least according to online retailer Amazon.com. They report that the unreleased machine has already climbed to the top of their video game sales charts.
However, the demand may be a little too great; they’ve begun notifying customers of “shortages across the U.S.” as a result, and limiting purchases of the platform to one per household.
This all sounds familiar, somehow. But maybe it’s just me.
Analysts have already weighed in on how they think the price drop/remodeling will affect business going into the holiday season; I wonder if Amazon’s reports might affect those perceptions at all.
