Activision: Shooter Competition “Failing to Inspire”

Even though the game came out over five months ago, Call of Duty 4 has yet to see any serious competition in the shooter genre even from titles like Army of Two and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

Activision marketing director David Tyler commented, “We’re pleased to have Call of Duty 4 leading the way in the FPS genre, with recent launches such as Army of Two and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 failing to inspire.”

Since its release, Call of Duty 4 has been dominating the charts, even toppling the likes of Halo 3 as most played shooter on Xbox Live. The game has gone on to sell over 7 million units across all platforms, and the recently released Variety Map Pack is sure to make sure gamers continue to play for months to come.

“Call of Duty 4 has been a phenomenal success for us and reflects Activision’s commitment to creating truly ground-breaking games,” added Tyler.

“One of the things we’ve seen is that people outside of what you’d consider ‘normal’ gamers, are actually getting into this a lot, including quite a number of celebrities.”
