As reported earlier in an article several days ago here on AMN, pictures were leaked of a possible new Xbox 360 with a HDMI port as well as possibly a 120 GB hard drive. The report went unconfirmed, until now.
Gamestop sat down with Microsoft’s Chris Satchell, general manager of the Microsoft Game Development divison to get a low down on what was going on. Chris was very brief about what the photos were about, and didn’t mention whether this in fact, was a new version of the Xbox 360 console that will go on sale.
“We’re always working on prototypes and new technologies and just playing with stuff in Redmond to see what’s interesting. … At the moment, everything you might have seen is just looking at our experimentation back in Redmond, not really a product that we’re thinking about announcing,” he said.
It is probably a safe bet to say this prototype will hit the market as an updated Xbox 360. In order to not deter sales, Microsoft has not confirmed this as a fact – smart.
