Yooka-Laylee Gets a 2017 Release Date

Playtonic games gives a specific release date for their nostalgic platformer

The Banjo Kazooie love letter known as Yooka-Laylee  finally has a release date. With this news, we're also given a new trailer showcasing a new level of the game.

Releasing on April 11, 2017, Yooka-Laylee  will be available in physical and digital forms. The trailer released shows off the level Capital Cashino, as well as a bunch of new moves from Yooka and Laylee. The level design, music, and even sound effects are reminiscent of the Nintendo 64 days.

From their post with PlayStation, we learn a few things about Yooka-Laylee's level design.

"As with all the worlds in Yooka-Laylee, players can choose to expand Capital Cashino and make the environment even larger and more complex, with whole new areas to explore, characters to meet, and challenges to complete. And if you find Dr. Puzz, she has a head-spinning transformation to unlock!"

This means the open-world levels we're expecting will have even more unlocked as you progress through the levels, hopefully with a sense of progression.

Yooka-Laylee  is now available for pre-order in digital or physical forms. PlayStation 4 pre-orders come with an extra reward: "The Yooka-Laylee PS4 Toybox, a custom-built, spoiler-free sandbox designed to give players a taste of the platforming mechanics set to appear in the full game!"

We know Shovel Knights is going to make an appearance as an NPC and we've even seen six minutes of uninterrupted gameplay for the game.
