XCOM shooter has ‘undergone evolution,’ details coming in ‘only a matter of days’

Remember that XCOM shooter that was announced years ago and shown off at E3 2011? It’s okay if you don’t, because lets be honest it has been a long time, but for those who do, you’ll be happy to know that it’s still a thing though it has “undergone evolution” since its tradeshow event blowout.

“The creative development of this game has been a collaborative process of discovery and iteration. 2K’s culture allows our studios the freedom to refine their visions, to explore new ideas, and to deliver the best possible experiences for players. Through this exploration, 2K Marin has refined their vision, and as a result the game has evolved into a high-stakes narrative experience imbued with core XCOM concepts.”

Interestingly enough, alongside this announcement, 2K updated the game’s label, now calling it a “squad-based tactical shooter,” which is much different than what we were presented back in 2011.

Nevertheless, after several delays and studio restructuration, 2K announced that that they’ll be able to “share more details in only a matter of days.” At this point, we can only hope that they’ll blow the door off all these changes and get the ball rolling on what many were once calling a “high anticipated AAA title.”
