After languishing for a brief period in the “Specialty” section of the newly revamped Xbox LIVE Marketplace, Indie Games are once again back where they belong — in the Games section.
The move caused some uproar in the indie community. Developers felt that it would make their titles harder to find and that it would hurt their sales. Weapon of Choice developer Mommy’s Best Games called the decision a “categorical failure”, according to Gamasutra.
Now, it seems that Microsoft has reversed its decision, and indie game makers seem satisfied. “The new placement isn’t perfect — but its a huge step in the right direction,” writes one developer in the App Hub community forum. “The icon feels very out of place being such a different style – and in searches etc. it doesnt look like indie games are included – but we ARE in the games section. Thank you Microsoft – nice to know we still matter.”
