| MEDIA ALERT: JUNE 15, 2000 XBOX AND MECHWARRIOR 4: VENGEANCE WIN GAME CRITICS BEST OF E3 AWARDS Three Microsoft Games Win Runner-Up Awards Microsoft today announced that Xbox and MechWarrior 4: Vengeance won Game Critics Awards for Best Peripheral/Hardware Console and Best Simulation respectively. Three other titles published by Microsoft, FreeLancer, Dungeon Siege and Sigma, garnered Runner-Up Awards in their various categories. The Game Critics Awards (http://www.e3awards.com/) are independent E3 awards voted on by editors from several online and print gaming magazines. In a field crowded with the who’s who of the gaming industry, MechWarrior 4: Vengeance was crowned Best Simulation game of the 2000 Electronic Entertainment Expo. Judges referenced the game’s amazing graphics, fast paced, action-oriented gameplay and increased focus on player-centric tactical control as its winning characteristics. MechWarrior 4: Vengeance will be available at retail this holiday. FreeLancer, developed by Digital Anvil and published by Microsoft, was named Runner-Up in this highly competitive category. Microsoft scored Best Peripheral/Hardware for Consoles with Xbox. Beating out Dreamcast, PS2, Dreamcast Maracas and the Dreamcast Mouse, Xbox was, in the words of the Game Critics judges "too cool to ignore." Citing the DVD, networking, graphics processing and the ease of use for developers, Xbox was crowned with its first major award. Xbox will be available at retail locations globally in the fall of 2001. Microsoft had two additional titles garner Runner-Up awards. Dungeon Siege, developed by Chris Taylor’s Gas Powered Games, and Sigma, developed by Alex Garden’s Relic Entertainment, were named Runner-Up winners in the RPG and Original Game categories.
