Xbox One backwards comptability news coming this week

Will we finally see Red Dead Redemption?

It looks like we'll finally be getting some news on what additions will be coming to Microsoft's backwards compatibility program for Xbox One next week, according to Phil Spencer. What exactly that news will be, however, we can only guess.

Phil responded to a tweet about Xbox One backwards compatibility games, like Red Dead Redemption, by confirming we "should hear some news next week." Now, it seems like he was referring more to the games in general as opposed to Red Dead Redemption specifically, but it'sstill exciting.

In the recent voting that Xbox has instituted, for some odd reason Black Ops 2 is ahead of Red Dead Redemption and Modern Warfare 3 booted Mass Effect 3 off the list. What that reason is I am not sure, Red Dead is a much better game. As far as the rest of the list is concerned, the current top ten requested games are:

  1. Black Ops 2
  2. Red Dead Redemption
  3. Skyrim
  4. Modern Warfare 2
  5. Halo Reach
  6. Black Ops
  7. Gears of War 3
  8. Fallout 3
  9. COD 4 Modern Warfare
  10. Modern Warfare 3

The fact that half of the top ten requested games are Call of Duty is evidence enough that the list needs some serious reworking. Microsoft has noted that just because people vote on games does not mean they will be added as developer permission is still needed. We'll have to wait until next week to see what Phil has in store, but fingers crossed for Red Dead Redemption
