Earlier today, Blizzard officially unveiled the newest expansion for World of Warcraft, "Mists of Pandaria". Since the initial tease from the trailer we have uncovered a few more details about about the starting zone, Monk class, and new race being introduced, Pandaran, racial abilities.
The new land, described as "a land 10,000 years lost," is literally on the shell of a giant turtle.
As you can see from the pictures it really looks like a land of "a mystery shrouded by superstition. A land of forgotten power and ancient magics." It looks like there will be 5 zones in the new island and below you can see a screenshot of the starting location.
The Pandaran racial abilities include:
- Bouncy: reduces fall damage by half.
- Inner Peace: double rested XP.
- Gourmond: +15 to cooking (Kung Fu Panda would be proud)
- Epicuran: Double stats to food buffs (he would love this too)
The Epicurean racial seems a little overpowered, while Inner peace looks like it's designed to make the leveling process faster and less of a grind. It seems the Gourmond ability is ripped straight from Kung Fu Panda. Since Pandaren can be both Alliance and Horde, they will start of neurtal at level 1. At level 10 they will have to pick a side to fight for.
We've also uncovered a little more information about the new Monk class. The Monk works on an Energy system similar to rogues and has no auto attack. The Monk class is available to all races except for Worgen or Goblin.
Shrouded in fog since the world was sundered more than ten thousand years ago, the ancient realm of Pandaria has remained unspoiled by war. Its lush forests and cloud-ringed mountains are home to a complex ecosystem of indigenous races and exotic creatures — including the noble and enigmatic pandaren. Will the mists of Pandaria part to reveal the world’s salvation… or will the battle to control this new land push the Horde and the Alliance over the brink of war and into total annihilation?
