The lawsuit-happy former IGDA board member known as Tim Langdell has been stripped of his “Edge,” “Cutting Edge,” “Gamers Edge” and “The Edge” trademarks by U.S. Judge William Alsup, reports website Gamasutra.
Judge Alsup’s final judgement has been signed off, and states that each of the parties involved in the lawsuit (Electronic Arts, who was sued over Mirror’s Edge, and Langdell’s Edge Games) will have to cover its own court costs.
The best part is that he must now go to all of his licensees and say that he was being an ass-clown, as the ruling states, “[The] Plaintiff shall notify all persons and entities with whom a licensing agreement has been obtained involving the trademarks asserted herein that the marks have been cancelled and provide these persons and entities with a copy of the order denying plaintiff’s motion for a preliminary injunction and the final judgment.”
EA, keeping a friendly face, said that they are “pleased that we’ve reached a settlement and can put this behind us…this settlement goes a long way in protecting the rights of independent developers.”
