The
Sims – Update
Is
The Sims a hit in the making? We’ll see next week when the first PC Data
numbers come out, but I can tell you that The Sims
is Maxis’ fastest selling game ever. So far
we’ve shipped well over a quarter million copies to stores in
North America and they are selling faster than SimHot Cakes. So far The
Sims has sold twice as fast as SimCity 3000
(released in February of 1999) which was
the top grossing game of 1999. Electronic Arts has already manufactured
a large additional supply of games, so there should be no shortages.
Today
Maxis posted a new set of free downloadable objects that can be imported
into players’ games. These include a set of five character skins: a warrior
man and woman, two children dressed as sprites and Sherlock Holmes. Players
can also download a set of new lights for their homes as well as a slot
machine (which is reportedly VERY loose). There are also some Maxis designed
mansions that can also be loaded into players games. Check them out at
