The PS4 has finally surpassed the Wii U in lifetime sales…in Japan

The Xbox One? That's funny.

You'd think this would have happened earlier, but it is now official. The PlayStation 4 has officially passed Nintendo's Wii U for units sold all-time in Japan per NeoGAF. The sales totals are now 3.267 million units for the PS4 to 3.265 million for the Wii U.

Here's a more comprehensive breakdown:

Other interesting tidbits are that the 3DS is blowing every other platform away while the Xbox One is only beating Nintendo's 2DS. Ouch.

Given the fact that the NX is on the horizon, you'd have to figure that the Wii U has zero chance of overtaking the PS4, especially since The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is its only major game left (not to mention that it too will be on the NX).

Here's hoping that the NX turns out to be a success.
