Take-Two CEO: Red Dead ‘is a permanent franchise,’ 2K Marin in charge of BioShock

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently discussed how the publisher plans to handle its IP, saying that Red Dead Redemption will be a permanent franchise for the company.

“It’s obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality,” he said at the Cowen and Company’s Technology, Media and Telecom Conference. “It seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat.”

With two critically acclaimed entries under its belt already, it comes as no surprise that Take-Two has another Red Dead coming down the pipes—and given Zelnick’s comments, we can expect just that.

Zelnick also spoke to the future of the BioShock IP now that Irrational Games has been shut down, describing it as “beloved.”

“We think it’s important [and] certainly something we’re focused on, something 2K Marin will be responsible for shepherding going forward,” he added. 2K Marin being put in charge of BioShock comes in stark contrast to reports of layoffs at the studio and subsequent rumors of closure after the launch of The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.
