Publisher Toadman Interactive has unveiled a new trailer for IGI: Origins and also shared the release window for it. The game is planned to come out in 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. They also released the first trailer which shows in-game footage. Watch it here!
Project I.G.I. is a fairly dated first-person shooter from the start of the last decade. Having released at the tail end of the year 2000, we wouldn’t hold it against you, if the name didn’t ring any bells. That’s a real shame though since it was one of the early shooter titles that relied heavily on stealth and fairly open level designs. It even got a sequel three years later but the franchise died off quickly after.
The year is 1980. You play code name “Regent” an agent in the service of MI6 on active duty. Tasked with critical responsibilities of national security, Regent will undertake a series of missions across the world to achieve the objectives of Spy paymasters in a dramatic, filmic experience that explores the origins of the Insitute of Geotactical Intelligence. Using a variety of weapons and gadgets at your disposal, your actions will determine the boundaries of where friends and enemies lay, as you seek to uncover the truth behind events leading to world-shattering ramifications.
Fast forward two decades and Toadman Interactive is now funding a third entry into the dormant series. IGI: Origins is – as you might have guessed – a prequel to the first two games, and will take place in the 1980s. The perfect backdrop for covert operations in a time when electronic gadgets were still in their infancy. Origins will continue the signature stealth-action gameplay from the series, coupled with levels that give you the option to approach them however you want.
With more than a year at the earliest for the game to come out, you can look forward to more details and videos of IGI: Origins in the coming months. It’s also very likely that the game will come out not only for current-gen consoles but also the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett.
