Stay tapped into the Mass Effect universe with free app

If you find yourself fiending for Mass Effect 3 when you're at work, school, or the grocery store, then ease your frantic mind with this free app for iPad and iPhone.

The datapad app keeps you in touch with the Mass Effect universe, offering such features as codex entries from every game in the series, messages from characters as you interact with them in-game, and exclusive updates from the Alliance News Network, the source of news in the galaxy. Screenshots, videos, and wallpapers are also available.

As a bonus, the app lets you raise your readiness rating in Mass Effect 3 by deploying fleets of ships to better your chances against the Reapers, in case you're not fond of the multiplayer or other means of pumping up the number.

Publisher Electronic Arts and developer BioWare released the third installment of the Mass Effect series for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on March 6. The game concludes Commander Shepard's story.
