On June 23, 1991, a little blue hedgehog by the name of Sonic shocked the world when he went head to head in a battle of platforming greatness against the iconic Mario. Here we are 20 years later, and Sega is celebrating the blue blur’s debut with some digital goodies starting tomorrow, as announced by the Sonic 20th anniversary Twitter account.
The Sonic Generations demo features one classic level and one modern level, so gamers can get a glimpse of how the game will play. The demo will only be playable until July 12, so if you’re interested in the game, be sure to try it out first on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
Sega is also celebrating the blue hedgehog’s 20th birthday with a special Sonic the Hedgehog 20th Anniversary Bundle. Included in the downloadable bundle are Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic Adventure (with the DX add-on content), Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, and a special Sonic 4 theme. The bundle has been priced at $20 for PlayStation Network, and we can expect it to hit Xbox Live, as well.
It’s cool to see Sega commemorating Sonic’s 20th year in video games. Sure, Sonic’s reputation has seen better days, but he’s still an icon in gaming. Will you be downloading the bundle and demo when they drop tomorrow?
