Sam Smith to sing theme song for new James Bond film ‘Spectre’

Don't mess up the opening theme, Smith.

We finally have an answer to the question that has been plaguing the minds James Bond enthusiasts. Who will be singing the theme song for Spectre? The Grammy Award-winning 23-year old artist, Sam Smith, best known for 'Stay With Me' has landed the role.

With Smith recording the Bond theme song, it will mark the first Bond song to be recorded by a British male solo artist since Tom Jones sag the Thunderball theme back in 1965.

Spectre's theme song will be called 'The Writing's on the Wall,' and will be available on September 25th through iTunes or through Smith's merchandise store on CD or vinyl. Since the official announcement, Smith has revealed his excitement to be a part of the legacy that is James Bond:

This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations.  I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.

Spectre is set to release on November 6, 2015, starring Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci, Ben Whishaw and Lea Seydoux.
