RED STORM TEAMS UP WITH ANOTHER BEST SELLING AUTHOR
MORRISVILLE, N.C., March 21, 2000 Red Storm Entertainment, Inc. today
announced its next project under development, Freedom: First Resistance, a
third-person single player action-adventure game inspired by Anne
McCaffrey’s best-selling Freedom novels. Freedom: First Resistance is
scheduled for release during the 4th quarter of this year.
“Our agreement with Anne reflects Red Storm’s strategy to create
innovative, enjoyable products that appeal to the widest possible range of
consumers,” Red Storm President & CEO Doug Littlejohns said.
“Anne has an enormous following world-wide and we trust that they will be as
excited as we are that her brilliant storytelling will be brought to the
computer screen.”
In Freedom: First Resistance, a race of aliens called Catteni, has invaded
Earth, successfully colonizing the planet in a matter of days. All organized
defenses have been smashed, every human government and standing military has
been destroyed, and major cities are smoldering ruins. The worldwide economy
has collapsed and the vast majority of the survivors dwell in refugee camps
not counting the millions who have simply vanished. Earth is ruled by the
Provisional Authority, humans who administrate the planet on behalf of their
alien masters. The only resistance, a ragged network of freedom fighters,
guerillas and other rag-tag resisters, stands against the Provisional
Authority and the alien powers behind it.
The Resistance has neither numbers nor resources on its side, but it does have
the unshakeable determination of Angel Sanchez, a young freedom fighter. With
everything she knows and loves destroyed in the invasion, Angel harnesses her
anger and gathers a team of like-minded rebels to rid Earth of its alien
overlords.
Through a combination of stealth, combat, puzzle-solving and dialogue, the
player guides Angel and members of her team through a series of missions until
ultimately, they face and over come the ultimate alien evil in its lair
or die trying. Along the way, the characters interact with both allied and
hostile non-player characters, explore the world and uncover the secrets
behind the Catteni domination of Earth.
Freedom: First Resistance will be shown at this year’s Electronic
Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, May 2000.
