A squad-based Resident Evil title from SOCOM developer Slant Six is slated for launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this winter. Confirmed on OXM, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will deliver team-based, third-person shooting gameplay set during the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 timelines. The game will retell the events that took place in those two games, but players will take on the roles of Umbrella Corporation employees out to destroy evidence of their evil deeds across Raccoon City.
Gamers will form groups of four to eradicate evidence, take on opposing government forces, and eliminate rookie cop Leon Kennedy. Operation Raccoon City assigns players the role of the enemy this time around, promising gamers an interesting new perspective on the events that transpired in the classic Resident Evil games.
Gamers who played Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 will recognize many locales and characters within the game. In addition to the team-based campaign, there will also be a competitive multiplayer mode thrown in. This mode will pit Umbrella forces against the United States government. Oh, and just in case you’re wondering, you will definitely have to take out hordes of zombies. After all, these undead freaks don’t really care if Umbrella created them: They’re just out to kill.
Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D for the new 3DS was confirmed for this summer. The game will include a playable demo of Resident Evil: Revelations. Expect a lot of zombie-killing antics this year at the rate Capcom is turning out Resident Evil content.
