Puzzle game fans brake for addictive fun

Dale City, Va. – Oct. 14, 2004 – Alawar
Entertainment (

www.alawar.com
), a
leading publisher of shareware games, has released Traffic Jam Extreme, a puzzle
game in which the player’s goal is to untangle vehicular gridlock on the streets
of Stresstropolis.

Each level requires the player to move one or
more vehicles through the bottleneck. To reposition an automobile, the player
clicks on it and then selects an empty tile. A car can’t be moved, however, if
other means of transportation or obstacles are in the way.

As the player contemplates the solution, a
Stress Meter gradually fills up. If the player blows his or her lid, he or she
loses one life. Casual gamers who prefer to play without time pressure can turn
off the Stress Meter in the Options menu. In addition, the player can choose to
automatically solve the current puzzle if he or she has at least one life
remaining.

Points are awarded based on how quickly the
player solves a puzzle; extra lives are granted every 20,000 points.

Before the player is allowed to tackle the
Big Apple, he or she has to navigate the outskirts of Stresstropolis, where the
holdups are easier to clear and there’s less traffic. Traffic Jam Extreme
contains 150 levels in seven cities.
